I made this conceptual piece from a place of wanting to experiment with ideas around things being levels above and below, by category. In short, meta stuff and how it interlocks with fractal stuff and how these things tend to abstract us out of our reality into some other place that’s more difficult to have a body inside of. The idea is to wear a meta-fractal piece and in so doing be armored against the pulsing infinite regress of modernity.
That’s what this necklace is an attempt at. To make it I used the CHainmaille pattern called GSG and then made links from those chains to make a traditional Cuban Link Chain. This beast is beautul and feels UNREAL and silkily heavy and grounding.
I make, assemble, and even weld closed each link so that my work is of heirloom quality. This means that it will last for a lifetime of wear and that my chains are soft to the touch and will not pull on hairs.
